RIP

Corey Haim, of the two Coreys, was 38.

RIP: Robert Novak

Oh, Robert Novak .... where do I begin? Goodness gracious, you will be missed.

Easily one of the most influential (and to some, the most hated) political columnists of all time, he was proud to carry the monkier "The Prince of Darkness" amongst his peers. He was a diehard conservative, but also stood up when he didn't agree with other conservatives too: most recently about the US invading Afganistan and the war in Iraq. Oh, and you might remember him as the guy who outed Valerie Plame as a CIA agent in 2003.

No matter what your personal opinion of his columns and reporting was, remember this: Novak was one of the greatest Patriots of our times. He truly believed in our country and its inherent power, pushing politicians to do what was best for America and not themselves or their political ties. "Always love your country- but never trust your government." Novak pushed the envelope and had higher expectations for those in power. If you didn't answer his questions honestly or with integrity, he would relentlessly hunt you down.

In short: Novak and the call-out were the best of friends.

"I had a terrific time fulfilling all my youthful dreams and at the same time making life miserable for hypocritical, posturing politicians and, I hope, performing a service for my country."

They just don't make 'em like they used to...

We'll miss you Michael

Michael Jackson died today of a heart attack. He was 50.

While Farrah may have been the original unicorn / muse, MJ was Mr. Jam of the Week. AMDAL will miss his presence in the blogosphere.
