Happy New Year

Dear Friends,

It's certainly been another fun and exciting year for me, and I hope for you all as well. It's hard to believe 2009 is already over and my 26th(!) birthday is right around the corner. I seem to be growing up faster than even I could have expected!

2009 was another banner year for me. The first year of medical school back at Dartmouth wrapped up nicely, and before I knew it I was off to Peru for another exciting South American adventure. I've certainly made these excursions one of my favorite traditions and I cringe at the thought of the change next year brings with less flexibility in my schedule. Nevertheless, it was an amazing summer abroad. I helped to start a medical clinic in a small village in the Andes. It was a fabulous experience to further my growing clinical skills and maintain my Spanish fluency!

After a Moroccan vacation from my vacation, it was back to Hanover for the start of year two. What a difference a year makes! This academic year has been much more engrossing. I'm learning new and exciting things every day and they finally all seem relevant. I've done great in my classes (I'm so proud!) and am looking forward to another winter of skiing and racing in the Thursday night Beer League at Whaleback.

In fact, as I write this note, the snow is gently falling on the trees outside my window. Tomorrow promises to be a beautiful day in the mountains. Can't wait! I'm so blessed to live and study here!

Hope this message finds you all well and greets you with love. Happy New Year!

-your friend, MW

This is a perfectly nice and friendly post; let it be an example to you all. Please, nobody make fun of it. The decade is still new and fresh, like the snow gently falling outside his window. Do not piss in it so soon with your cynicism.

MW, you still lost the new year's eve shotgun. so let's not go overboard and claim that 2009 was a success.

BMar... the shotgun happened in 2010. Zing.

Nice blog/holiday card [AS]. Maybe in 2010 you'll be able to finally get me to pay you that quick six I owe you for housing The Fort (Lou's) Cruller French Toast

Great post. The first thing I thought of when I woke up this morning was, "Man, I am really bummed I didn't get that MW humourless year-in-review-reminder that-his-birthday-is-coming-up-card this year."
Especially because I hadn't seen bi-monthly update posts from all of these locations over the last 12 months and had no clue what he was up to.
Whew, I can sleep easy now.

Poor [AS] gets the brunt of the criticism with his tongue-in-cheek holiday card and I get away scott free.

It's good to have that founder handle I guess.

Happy New Year right back at ya! I enjoyed your festive card.

You know, had you posted this pre-NYE party at the apartment, we could have avoided that awkward "No Freakin' way!" moment (quite a while after you got to Boston I might add), where you shouted out "Wait- do you know I'm the apple symbol?!" at me with a look of disbelief on your face. I had no idea, mainly because I use a PC and your symbol shows up as a little brick, so I thought Block was being creative half the time he posts and then using "Block" the other times when he didn't feel inspired.... now I have to re-read the whole blog to re-create the personalities I have constructed of both of y'all in my head.

MLR: everyone lost the boat race based on the amount of beer y'all poured on the floor and not in your mouths.

Guess what else? I found a piece of glittery confetti in my apartment in NYC. I don't know how it is even possible, considering that my bags didn't arrive in Boston until well after we had already cleaned all of the confetti up. Absolutely mind boggling!

Appologies, not MLR, but BMartin on the boat race. Glad to know that you are a real person too :)

AOG, i found a piece of glitter back in my place in Hanover as well. Just like p!edge term and Anon's stupid commentary, IT NEVER ENDS.
