Sad but true, it's not the first time pole dancing has been peddled to kiddos
In 2006, the Peekaboo Pole Dancing Kit was pulled from the toy section of a British store after a public outcry, as the real pole-dancing product was marketed as a children's toy. The kit included fake money, a garter, instructional DVD and of course, a pole. It is now being marketed with Carmen Electra on it & I imagine is sold in seedy stores on Amsterdam in NYC- much better!
Even if the Pole Dance doll above turns out to be fake, the real problem is how easy it is to believe that it's real. It's being marketed in Japan at current, but like Toyota Priuses (or is it Pri-i?) and Ramen noodles, it's one easy cargo shipment away from hitting US soil.
Even though stripping has become mainstream and a semi-acceptable way to make a living, does this mean that little girls who catch a glimpse of such activities will pursue pole-dancing as a profession?
While we all can agree that pole dancing dolls are not the best thing to give little girls as presents, what struck me as interesting when I cam across this article is the fact that the author truly seemed to think that each of the recipients will become what they pretended to be when they were young (in this case, a pole dancing hussy). If this were the case, AMDAL contributors would be engineers, doctors, lawyers and financiers. Wait a minute... what were the childhood dreams of AMDAL? Perhaps that's a topic for a post or survey in itself.

Oops, sorry AOG. I accidentally Terminator quoted in your post about pole dancing youth. Awwwkward.
I wanted to be a dinosaur when I was little. Unfortunately, no matter how many dinosaur toys I bought, it never ended up happening.
i remember hearing the term "cage dancer" and thinking that sounded really neat... luckily it didn't work out.
When my sister was little she wanted to be a gas station attendant because she was impressed by how much cash they always had. Good thing she never saw strippers back then...
